Stroke analysis by Henrique Rodrigues
You've done the drills. You've watched the videos. It still doesn't click.
Send me a video of you swimming. I'll go through it frame by frame, show you exactly what's holding you back, and give you a plan to fix it.

Does any of this sound like you?
- You're out of breath after one or two lengths, even though you're fit everywhere else.
- You've watched the videos. It makes sense on the screen, then you get in the water and nothing changes.
- Your legs sink and it feels like you're swimming uphill.
- Your coach writes the set on the board, but nobody has really looked at your stroke.
- You swim more and more, and your times stay exactly where they were.
None of this means you're a bad swimmer. It means something in your stroke is costing you, and you can't see it from inside the water. Nobody can.
Why hasn't more swimming fixed it?
Because swimming more repeats your stroke. It doesn't correct it.
Every length with a lifted head or a dropped elbow makes that habit a little stronger. Push harder on top of it and you just get more tired.
What changes a stroke is knowing exactly which piece to fix first, why it matters, and what the right version should feel like. That's what this analysis gives you.
What will you get back?
A complete report on your stroke, written for you. Here is what a few of its pages look like.
Summary
Your top 3 fixes, in order
- 1Bend the elbow early in the catch
Costs you: the hand slips and lifts you instead of moving you
- 2Pull back under your body
Costs you: a short pull with nothing to hold on to
- 3Right hand in line with the shoulder
Costs you: a crooked start to every pull on that side
Already working
- High elbow in the recovery
- Finish past the hip
Frame by frame · underwater clip

- 1Elbow still at 152°
The arm is already 63° down, but the elbow has barely bent.
- 2The catch starts late
The hand pushes water down instead of back.
Fix 1 · Drill
Bend the elbow early in the catch
- Why it matters
- Water you push down lifts you up instead of moving you forward.
- Drill
- Sculling, arms in front, 4 x 25 with a pull buoy. Then catch-up with a one-second pause at the catch, 4 x 25.
- What it should feel like
- Pressure on the inside of the forearm, not only on the palm.
- When
- Warm-up of three swims a week, weeks 1 and 2.

- Your swim, marked frame by frame
Your body tracked on your own video: body line, head and breathing, recovery, hand entry and kick. Add an underwater clip and I mark the catch and pull too.
- The 2 or 3 fixes that matter most, in order
Not a list of twenty problems. The ones costing you the most, ranked, so you know where to start.
- Why each one slows you down
In plain words, so you understand the fix instead of just following it.
- Drills for every fix
What to do, how many, and what it should feel like when you get it right.
- A 4-week plan
How to fit the drills into the swimming you already do. No extra sessions needed.
- A check-in after 4 weeks
Send a new video. I tell you what changed and what to work on next.

Who's going to watch your swim?
Me. I'm Henrique Rodrigues. I swam the 200 individual medley for Brazil at two Olympic Games and won gold at the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto.
Sixteen years of high performance taught me that technique is where speed comes from, and that almost nobody gets honest feedback on it. That's what I'll give you: a straight answer about your stroke, and a clear way to fix it.
What does it cost?

Questions before you order?
What do I need to film?
A phone and someone on the pool deck. They film you on a diagonal from outside the pool for two lengths at your normal pace. If you have a GoPro or a waterproof phone, add a short underwater clip from the side. After you order, you get a one-page guide with the exact angles. Follow your pool's filming rules and keep other swimmers out of the shot.
Can you see my pull from the deck?
Not fully, and I won't pretend to. From the deck I see your body line, head and breathing, recovery, hand entry and kick. The catch and pull happen under the water, so for those I need an underwater clip. Without one, I tell you what the deck view suggests and say clearly what I can't see.
Which strokes do you analyze?
All four: freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly. Pick the one you want to fix most. One analysis covers one stroke.
I'm still learning. Is this for me?
Yes. The fixes are chosen for where you are now, not for an elite swimmer. If you fight for air after one length, that's exactly where we start.
I'm a triathlete. Will this help?
Yes. Film in a pool so I can see your technique clearly. A cleaner stroke and calmer breathing go with you into open water.
Does Henrique really watch my video?
Yes. I watch every video myself. SwimRead's tracking tools help me place the points on your body precisely, but every diagnosis and every drill in your report comes from me.
How is this different from the SwimRead app?
The app is in beta and gives automatic estimates. This analysis is me watching your swim from start to finish and telling you what I see.
What happens to my video?
It's used for your analysis and stored privately. When you upload, you can choose to let SwimRead keep the movement data from your swim (body points and angles, not the video) to help train the app. Saying no doesn't change your analysis.
What if my video doesn't work?
If I can't see what I need, I tell you exactly what to film again, at no extra cost.
