Your swim. Your focus.
in your pocket.

Record a short freestyle video, keep each swimmer’s history together, and choose a focus to take into your next practice.

Film. Analyze. Return with a focus.

A consistent recording helps you review your swimming. The current beta supports freestyle filmed from the side of the pool.

Choose the swimmer

Keep the video linked to the right swimmer. Different people have separate histories and training focuses.

Follow the capture guide

Aim for 10 seconds of continuous freestyle. Film in landscape from the side, with the whole body visible, a stable camera, standard lens, and normal playback speed. You do not need a full pool length.

Review what is available

On-device pose detection estimates body landmarks. The report distinguishes available measurements from categories the video cannot support. These estimates are not validated technique grades.

Save a training focus

Choose a focus and consult general swimming drills. Return to that swimmer’s history for your next recording, using comparable filming conditions.

Guided capture

A filming checklist helps you keep conditions consistent. Visibility, camera angle, water, and 2D pose estimation still limit what can be measured.

Video review

A history for each swimmer

Keep records and training focuses with the right swimmer on this device. Share an analysis record without a technique grade.

Data handling

Local video, disclosed data sharing

The video is analyzed on your phone and is not uploaded. Technical measurements, including body-landmark coordinates, are sent after analysis. Signed-in results and voluntary feedback also sync as described in the Privacy Policy.

Video review
10 s

10-second clips are accepted. Available measurements depend on how clearly the swimmer is visible.

Training focus

General drills and a saved focus

Choose what to work on and revisit it at your next session. The beta does not claim to detect every technique error or replace a coach’s judgment.

One swimmer. A focus you can return to.

Keep a record of what you chose to work on. A later recording belongs to the same swimmer’s history; a different camera angle does not prove a change in technique.

The app does not grade technique or automatically retrain itself after each analysis.

Keep the identity clear

Select the same swimmer for the next recording.

Keep the filming comparable

Use the capture guide again. The checklist records what you confirm; it cannot lock another phone’s camera settings.

Revisit the focus

Review your saved focus and the measurements available in each recording. General drills are not proof that a technical error was detected.

Sixteen years chasing hundredths

Henrique Rodrigues swam the 200 individual medley for Brazil at two Olympic Games. He is a Pan American champion: gold in Toronto 2015 with a Games record of 1:57.06, the third fastest time in the world that year, and a World Championship finalist in Kazan.

Sixteen years of high performance taught him where speed really comes from. Technique is the part of the sport that matters most, and the part almost no swimmer gets honest feedback on. SwimRead is that experience guiding an experimental tool: record a short freestyle clip, keep each swimmer’s history together, and return to a chosen training focus. Automatic estimates still need careful validation and do not replace a coach’s judgment.

Common questions

How does SwimRead analyze my swimming?

On-device pose detection estimates up to 33 body landmarks in sampled video frames. The report shows which automatic measurements are available. Camera angle, visibility, water, and 2D estimation limit the result; the beta does not assign a technique grade or claim validated biomechanical accuracy.

Does my video get uploaded anywhere?

The app does not upload your video. A working copy can remain in private app storage. Technical measurements and body-landmark coordinates are sent after analysis, with or without an account. Signed-in results and voluntary feedback also sync. See the Privacy Policy for details.

What do I need to film a good analysis?

Use an authorized 10-second freestyle video with one swimmer swimming continuously. You do not need 20 seconds or a 50 m pool. Film in landscape from the side, keep the whole body visible, use a stable camera and standard lens, and keep normal playback speed. In longer clips, only up to about the first 20 seconds are sampled. Follow the capture guide each time. The app does not automatically lock or verify all camera settings.

Which strokes are supported?

The current beta analyzes freestyle filmed from the side of the pool. Backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly, underwater footage, starts, and turns are not supported analysis modes in this beta.

Do I need any extra hardware or sensors?

No wearable is required. You need a compatible phone and a suitable side-view recording. Film from a safe position on the pool deck; underwater recording is outside this beta’s supported setup.

Does SwimRead give my technique a score?

No. The current beta shows measurement availability, swimmer history, and a chosen training focus. A number derived from pose detection is not proof of technique quality. Filming differences can affect estimates between sessions.

How much does SwimRead cost?

SwimRead is free while in beta. Paid plans will come later, and beta testers will be told before anything changes.

Who built SwimRead?

Henrique Rodrigues, a two-time Olympian and Pan American champion in the 200 individual medley, built it after sixteen years in high performance swimming.
